As Jah9 release the "year of 9" from the grasp of her fists and greet 2017 (2+0+1+7=1) with open hearts and arms, there are a few blessings that 2016 brought her that she still gives thanks for. The “year of 9” represented change, which definitely did some resifting in our lives, to make room for the beginning of a new cycle of 9, the “year of 1”, which represents creativity, learning and growth. The highlight and the greatest blessing of 2016, was the birth of the album “9”, which the world received tremendously well. “9” was recently chosen as the no. 2 Reggae Album by Billboard critics and voted no.1 International Reggae Album by Japan's oldest music magazine, JP’s Music. The recent feature in 'The Huffington Post' is also of great note and acknowledgement to her selfless efforts in inspiring the world with her beautiful melodious music.
“Hardcore” is the third music video from '9' the album and was released on January 13th, 2017 It Is the first video in a two part series by Jah9's creative director Samo Kush-I that was inspired by the vintage live sessions, in old documentaries. Music videos for the songs “Humble Mi” and “Unafraid” filmed and directed by Ras Kassa and Samo Kush-I respectively were also released last year.
Jah9's “Year of 9” tour kicked off in Jamaica and continued to make waves in the U.S & Europe, then landed in Nairobi, Kenya for the launch of the album on September 9, 2016. Touring in Europe in November alongside the legendary Ken Boothe was certainly one of the highlights of her year. She will be hitting the road again soon, starting in March alongside Chronixx for his U.S. leg of the Chronology Tour but first Jah9 will bless the Jamaican audience with a live show under the fullness of the moon and overlooking the city of Kingston. During "Reggae Month" in Jamaica, on Saturday February 11 at Skyline Levels (Skyline Drive, Jacks Hill), Jah9 will be live with her band the Dub Treatment along with specially invited guests. (Join the event page for updates and merch giveaways).
Jah9 is also confirmed for Cali Roots in USA and Summerjam in Germany in May and June respectively. More dates for 2017's summer tour will be posted soon on www.Jah9.com
We feel immensely grateful to have experienced all the light that the year of 9 had to offer. We want to move forward with the same heart of thanksgiving, as we walk in this fresh New Cycle.
