Remembering Fred Hampton, A Black Panther Murdered by U.S. Police/FBI

On December 4, 1969, 47 years ago today, a select unit of Chicago police officers executed a predawn raid that left Illinois Black Panther Party (BPP) leaders Fred Hampton and Mark Clark dead and several other young Panthers wounded. The seven survivors of the raid were arrested on fraudulent attempted murder charges. The officers who committed the execution were specially assigned to Cook County State's Attorney Edward Hanrahan. The claims of a "shootout" that were made by Hanrahan and his men were soon exposed as bald-faced lies: the physical evidence definitively established that the raiders fired nearly 100 shots at the sleeping Panthers, while only one shot could be linked to a Panther weapon.

Evidence and time have proven that Hampton was murdered by the United States government in their quest to silence the 'Black Voice' which was growing prominently strong back in the day. Hampton isn't the only Pan-African voice who was silenced by the White Supremacist country. Martin Luther King Jr., Malcolm X and countless others have been killed by those who oppose black unity in the world.

Today, we write not to incite violence or point accusing fingers, but rather to give Africans a better understanding of the "war" we've been fighting since the Trans-Saharan/Atlantic Slave Trade era. Africans have been in bondage all over the world for decades. We have become accustomed to being tagged "third world" and we foolishly have accepted defeat in a battle which is far from over. Violence is NOT the answer, rather, peaceful dialogues between African nations and ethnicity must be adhered to in order for progress to be made in Africa and among Africans worldwide.

Fred Hampton (a true Pan-African hero) must never be forgotten. It's of no surprise anymore why true black heroes are not studied by Africans or included in the black-educational syllabus. We know more about the White man's culture and history than ours and we for some dumb-ass reason find this "OK" to live with. No more! Africans need to wake up and get up from the shit-hole we find ourselves in and start being productive towards a unified agenda...Agenda-2063.

For those who've been mentally enslaved all their lives; Agenda 2063 is both a Vision and an Action Plan. It is a call for action to all segments of African society to work together to build a prosperous and united Africa based on shared values and a common destiny. In their 50th Anniversary Solemn Declaration, the Heads of State and Government of the African Union (AU), while acknowledging past successes and challenges, rededicated themselves to the continent’s accelerated development and technological progress. They laid down vision and eight ideals to serve as pillars for the continent in the foreseeable future, which Agenda 2063 will translate into concrete objectives, milestones, goals, targets and actions/measures. Agenda 2063 strives to enable Africa remain focused and committed to the ideals envisaged in the context of a rapidly changing world. Aiming to encourage discussion among all stakeholders, “Agenda 2063” is an approach to how the continent should effectively learn from the lessons of the past, build on the progress now underway and strategically exploit all possible opportunities available in the short, medium and long term, so as to ensure positive socioeconomic transformation within the next 50 years.
